Support groups and societies
Whether you've just signed up for an expedition, or just returned, there's a vibrant community of Raleigh alumni all around the world where you can share your Raleigh experiences. Our international societies play a vital role in recruiting volunteers to join our expeditions, supporting them before and after expedition. In the UK we have several support groups dedicated to keeping the spirit of Raleigh alive.

Join an existing group
We currently have an active group in London, newly formed groups in Nottingham and Manchester, plus one in Scotland and Jersey providing support and advice for departing and returning venturers and volunteer managers. Groups meet on a regular basis and are involved in a variety of projects in the local community. They organise social and sporting events, or just meet at the pub for a drink and a chat. This is a great opportunity to meet with like-minded people and to continue developing your skills.

Set up your own group
Setting up your own group can be daunting and your first meeting might be just 3 people in your living room, but all groups have to start somewhere! You can still get involved with giving talks about Raleigh in your local schools and universities, tell all your friends and family about your time you had on your expedition and volunteer in your local community to build on your skills.
What are the benefits of a Raleigh support group?
Once you've registered your group there are lots of ways we can help. We'll pass your group's details to recently returned venturers and volunteer managers in your area and add it to our website. We'll keep you up to date with our work in the UK and overseas, fundraising ideas and support, and guide you with health and safety and risk management issues. Our dedicated Alumni Manager based at head office is also here to help you with your queries and questions. Contact Debra Hay on +44 (0) 207 183 1280 or
